Bill Ponsford was named in this elite club because of his First Class batting records rather than his test Records. Despite being heavily built, Ponsford was quick on his feet and renowned as one of the finest ever players of spin bowling. His bat which was heavier than the norm allowed him to drive powerfully and he possessed a strong cut shot. He is in the elite list of batsmen scoring three triple hundreds in First Class Cricket. He along with Brian Lara were the only ones to score 400 Twice in their careers. His batting Average of 65.18 showed how good a player he was. He is given the seventh spot in our list of top Ten Greatest Australian Batsmen of All Time.
