7. Keaton Jennings
The Johannesburg-born batsman, Keaton Jennings made a smashing debut for England with 112 at Mumbai. He followed it up with a fifty in fourth innings of next Test in Chennai. To go out there and score well in your debut series that too in Indian conditions, needs some pedigree, class and temperament that this youngster has in ample. Jennings’ ability to sweep efficiently bodes well for him against spinners. He is an old-book cricketer who bases on virtues of patience to weave his innings. The tall left-hander earned the national call-up after being named the County Championship player of the year in 2016. Jennings, who had originally replaced an injured Hameed in India, was named for South Africa Tests ahead of Haseeb even after he was fit. Cricket runs in Keaton’s blood as he is the son of former South African wicket-keeper and coach; Ray Jennings.
