2. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) – 230
One of the most classical and elegant stroke players you can ever see, the Sri Lankan southpaw is one of the greatest if not the greatest to have played the game. Sangakkara is the ambassador and poster boy of the gentlemen’s game. His greatest innings of 230 as the wicket-keeper batsmen came against the Pakistani side at Lahore in 2002. The innings included 33 fours and three sixes and helped Sri Lankan team to triumph to glory in what was the Asian championship final. The innings had his trademark shots – the cut and pull which he does with ease and free flow of the willow. As his innings progressed he displayed tremendous composure and assurance on the front foot as well. Sangakkara’s extravagant sweeps and secure foot work only added to the woes and turmoil of the already struggling Pakistani attack. He is ranked 2nd on our list.
