4. Taslim Arif (Pakistan) – 210*
He was also a Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman who played Six Tests and Two ODI’s in 1980. He was only in third test of his career, when he scored a scintillating 210 against the Aussies. This seven hour-long innings included 20 boundaries. The right hander faced as many as 379 deliveries against the quality bowlers like Dennis Lillee, Hughes, Dymock and Bright. His knock of 210 remained the record for highest test score by a wicket-keeper batsman for about 20 years. Although he averaged 62 in the six tests he played but with the vastly experienced glove men in the form of Wasim Bari in their national ranks , Arif had to miss out on what could have been an illustrious test match career. He is ranked 4th on our list.
