Ajantha Mendis has always been given a tag of ‘Mystery Bowler’ after Muttiah Muralitharan. In 2012, Mendis surpassed his previous record of taking most wickets in an innings by any player in a T20 International. In the very first match of T20 World Cup 2012, Sri Lanka were put to bat and therefore managed 182 runs in 20 overs. Mendis was brought into the attack after the seamers were unable to deliver the goods for Sri Lanka. He took 2 wickets on the 3rd and 4th ball of his first over, followed by another series of 4 wickets. Sri Lanka easily sealed victory in a one sided affair as Mendis was trenchant over Zimbabwe.
