3. Australia vs South Africa, 2006, Brisbane
This was not the first occasion that the cricketing world was witnessing a T20 match, but the shorter format was certainly new to international arena. Hence, both the teams could feel the intensity. Australia straightaway elected to bat with James Hopes and Damein Martyn on the crease. Hopes departed early on, followed by a crisp cameo of skipper Ricky Ponting. Martyn along with Andrew Symonds gave some mighty blows to the bowlers, ticking the 200 mark. Australia’s brilliance in fielding and some resounding spells by Nathan Bracken and Lewis lesioned the Proteas batting line up, thereby wining the match by 95 runs.
