2. Historic Day-night Test match:
The growing popularity of the shorter forms of the game has posed a great threat on the existence of Test cricket for some time now. It’s not a big secret that except for Ashes series there is hardly any series which has been able to capture the imagination and interest of the public at large. All these things led to the conceptualization of Day-night Test matches. The first ever Test match under the floodlights with the pink ball was played in the latter part of the year at Adelaide. It was the Trans-Tasman rivals who took on each other in the historic Day-night Test and started a new chapter in the history of their rivalry. It is notable that this experiment proved to be an instant success with spectators flocking the ground. The viewership was also in good numbers.
