3. Joe Root (England) – 983 runs
Joe Root has turned out to be a gem of a player for England. He has just been magnificent across formats and is one of few batsmen in international cricket to touch a career average of 50 or more in both ODIs and Tests. This year has also been quite prolific for the stylish English batsman. In half of 18 innings that he has batted in 50-overs cricket, he has hammered 50 or more.
The Yorkshire-lad has stroked 983 runs at 70.21. And add to that a very healthy strike-rate of 92.12 at which he has got his runs so far. The only thing that English Test skipper needs to work on is his inability to convert 50s into 100s.
