The Indian opener, Sunil Manohar Gavaskar was the first batsman in the history of the game to accumulate 10,000 runs and score 30 centuries in Test cricket. Gavaskar was one of the burly pillars of the Indian batting line-up and the bowlers had to toil extremely hard for his prized wicket.
