4. Men in Blue sweeping the inaugural World T20 title
The inaugural World T20 was played in the rainbow nation, South Africa in 2007. India had sent a young side and MS Dhoni was the skipper in charge for the first time. The final match was a high voltage encounter as it was played between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan which made the final even spicier. And indeed it turned out to a mouth-watering clash with the match going into the last over. In the final moments of the match, there was nervous energy all around and the hearts of the fans were racing at the rate of knots. Joginder Sharma had the ball in hand with Misbah-ul-Haq on strike. In the nail-biting match, the Pakistani batsman mistimed a cheeky scoop and as a result, India won the inaugural World T20 by 5 runs. It also marked the commencement of the era of India’s most successful skipper, MS Dhoni.
