The Nawab of Najafgarh was one of the chief architects of India’s no. 1 ranking in tests. Sehwag dented the new ball with ferocious cuts and pulls, thereby reducing its threat considerably. He often took bowlers to the cleaners and his innings more often than not changed the complexion of games. However, Sehwag lost his place in the side following disappointing home series against England and Australia.
