9. Sri Lanka vs India, CB Series, Hobart, 2012
After having a clean sweep in Test Series against Australia in 2012, the Indian team was at odds comprehensively in the Commonwealth Bank Series. Successive failure of Indian batsmen to score runs consistently resulted in some heavy defeats in the group stage matches. In the following ODI, Sri Lanka hammered 320 runs after they were put into bat by MS Dhoni. Being last in the group, India had to achieve this target before the 40 over mark in order to book its place into the final. The famous opening pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag rigorously added 50 runs in mere 6 overs. Both departed to the pavilion in short interval of time. Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were new to the crease, and gradually added 115 runs together, until Gambhir got runout by Angelo Mathews. Virat Kohli’s dexterous knock of 133 runs clinched the victory only in the 37th over. Lasith Malinga getting whacked by Virat Kohli in the 35th over was the highlight of match.
