6. Ravichandran Ashwin (India)
While Shami and Umesh set up the batsmen, R Ashwin made sure there was no respite for them. He shelved his variations and attacked relentlessly from over the wicket and not around the wicket to contain batsmen. Even though there was not much turn, he used the bounce available to good effect. That Australia didn’t post a total in excess of 375 in the semi-final was largely due to him getting Maxwell out early, albeit with the help of some intelligent fielding placements by Dhoni. His control made sure Dhoni could trap opponents in his favourite spin web.
