8. 157* against West Indies in 2005 :
Sri Lanka after being put into bat in bowling friends conditions in Kandy were bowled out for a low score of 150 and it seemed as if the match is long gone but surprisingly West Indies were bowled out for only 148 runs courtesy Vaas taking 6 wickets. In the second innings Sri Lanka were in a little bother when they were 57-2 very early but then Sangakkara dig in himself and started to take the innings forward and went on to score a very well made unbeaten 157 while none of his other team mates could pass the 50 run mark. Sri Lanka registered a huge win courtesy Sangakkara’s magnificent innings. The innings is very important because the circumstances and the conditions under which this was played were really daunting for a batsman. This innings earned him player of the match award too.
