7. Steven Smith (Australia)
This has not been the best of years for Australian cricket. They got whitewashed in Sri Lanka and lost to South Africa at home. But one constant thing in this rough year has been Smith’s rich vein of form. In 17 innings, the Aussie skipper has hammered 914 runs at an average of almost 61 with 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
The unorthodox batsman had a great start to the year as he managed scores of 71, 138 and 53 runs in New Zealand to began 2016 on a winning note. On the tough tour of Sri Lanka as well, Smith emerged as the highest run-scorer for the Aussies with 247 runs in 3 Tests.
In home series against South Africa, he again performed well while in Brisbane Test against Pakistan, Smith added 193 runs against his name.
