9. KC Brathwaite (West Indies)
Kraigg Clairmonte Brathwaite is the only West Indian to make it to the list. The solid West Indian opener notched up 655 runs in 14 innings at an average of 55.72 with 1 century and 5 half-centuries. On back of Brathwaite’s brilliance, West Indies was able to register its lone Test win in 2016. The right-hander carried his bat in first innings of Sharjah Test as he made an unbeaten 142 and helped West Indies post a decent total.
In second innings, West Indies was chasing a tricky total of 154 runs and at a point of time, they were struggling at 67 for 5. But Brathwaite rescued them and played a resilient knock of 60* runs to help them cross the line.
In the beginning of the year as well, he had scored a brilliant half-century in Sydney against Australia.
