2. John Hastings (Australia) – 29 wickets
From being the most successful pacer to not even making to the ODI squad, this year was one roller-coaster ride for Australia’s John Hastings. In 15 games, the medium-pacer took 29 wickets. But only one bad series and suddenly, the leading pacer of the year was dropped rather harshly. Hastings breakthrough year started off against India, when he took 10 wickets in 4 matches on some very flat wickets. He again put up a wonderful show when Australia visited Sri Lanka and went on to take 9 wickets in 3 games with a fifer to his credit.
But he endured an average outing against South Africa and was dropped. Hastings also averaged 31 with the willow in hand.
