3. Alex Hales (England)
This year, Alex Hales showed tremendous maturation and consistency in colorful jersey. The English opener, who is famous for his attacking game, played with some responsibility and consistency and put across his strong temperament on display. In the very first ODI series of the year in South Africa, Hales scored 50 or more in each of the 5 ODIs. He continued his great run of form in English summer as well and blasted big scores of 133 and 171 against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively. His marathon knock of 171 is the highest individual score by any Englishman in ODIs. In 13 innings, the Nottinghamshire batsman scored 743 runs at 62 with a supreme strike-rate of 101. He had 3 centuries and 4 fifties against his name in 2016.
