7. Brendon McCullum, 417 runs in 2009
Many predicted that this Kiwi batsman would take this format like a fish to water, and they weren’t wrong by any stretch of imagination. It must be hard to find people who didn’t witness his scooping of Shaun Tait over the keeper’s head, with he himself rolling down the grass, not once not twice but three times according to what my memory serves. The star of the opening night of the IPL had a good year in 2009 in T20 Internationals where he scored 417 runs in 11 innings, going past the fifty four times also with an average touching 42. It’s hard to foresee a list on the T20 format and not see McCullum’s name in it. Rightly so, Brendon McCullum is 7th on the list of Top 10 Players scoring 300 runs in a calendar year in t20 internationals.
