7. 230 against South Africa in 2012:
In this match, Australia chose to bat first and were immediately in trouble as they lost 3 wickets for only 55 runs and then stepped in the skipper Michael Clarke who was in supreme touch in 2012 just showed his class once again. Clarke stitched a very good partnership first David Warner and then Mike Hussey, both scoring centuries and Clarke going on to make his fourth double hundred of the year, which is still a record for the most number of double hundreds in a calendar year. Michael Clarke’s innings was an absolute hallmark of class and put Australia in a winning position but in the end Faf Du Plessis stol the show and saved the match for South Africa. It ended in a draw but what an innings it was from Clarke.
