Ravindra Jadeja has taken eight 5 wicket hauls so far in Test Cricket. He has rejuvenated himself as a test bowler. The best thing about Jadeja is his accuracy when he bowls. Unlike Ashwin, there is not much a lot of variation when he bowls. It is all about bowling an accurate line and length ? How many bowlers currently can do that on a consistent basis ? I don’t think there are many at present with that calibre and persona.

Jadeja has been predominantly good in the 13 Test Matches in this home season, being the X factor in the team. He has been taking wickets with his spin twin Ravichandran Ashwin and bringing the progress of many good test batsmen to a standstill. India has a lot to thank this Saurashtra all-rounder for it’s no.1 spot in the test rankings. He has taken 68 Test wickets in the season, just 11 behind Ashwin and scoring runs with the bat as well. Jadeja scored 63 runs in the first innings of the 4th test match at Dharmashala, it took him past 1000 runs. He is the 10th Indian to take 100 wickets and score 1000 runs. Only Kapil Dev (25), Ravichandran Ashwin (24), Vinoo Mankad (23) and Irfan Pathan (28) has achieved the feat in fewer test matches.
Jadeja has a rare combination of talent, skill and attitude which makes him different from any other player in the field. An electrifying fielder on the field, an accurate spinner who nails the jackpot time and again, and a handy batsman towards the end, helps the team in accelerating team totals and keeps the scoreboard ticking. He is a warrior in the field – for he fights war with not his words, but with his willow and the red cherry in hand. There were people who criticised his test selection, but warriors defies logics and runs a life of his own. That’s how Ravindra Jadeja has lived so far – defying logics and keeping the fans in awe. He has proved his worth in sub-continental conditions and rightly the no.1 bowler in the world.
