The IPL AUCTIONS 2013 hold a lot for both the players and the fans. The Indian Premier League is undoubtedly the most happening event where cricket is not just played, but lived to the fullest.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
The most successful IPL team in the history of the competition with semi-finals being their worst performance. They were denied a Hat-Trick of championships by Kolkota Knight Riders last season. They have released George Bailey, Joginder Sharma, Scott Styris, Abhinav Mukund, Suraj Randiv and Doug Bollinger from their squad. The Domestic Medium Pacer slot should be the only area of concern for this star-studded line-up which has the likes of Hilfenhaus, Ashwin,Bravo, Albie Morkel. Signing Back Manpreet Gony wont be a bad move for them. Having a $3.1 million purse they should be looking to strengthen their bowling attack.

DELHI DAREDEVILS
They are the CHOKERS of IPL. They were almost unbeaten in the league phase last season and were eventually knocked out by eventual finalists KKR and CSK in the qualifier and eliminator respectively. Easily, they are the strongest team on paper. With batsmen like Sehwag, Jayawardena,Warner,KP, Taylor,Unmukt Chand its going be a nightmare for the opposition bowlers. Their Bowling too looks good with Morne Morkel leading a pack of Indian Bowlers. All they need is an Indian middle order batsman who is consistent and have the ability to held the innings together. Either Abhishek Nayar or Mohammed Kaif will be a good choice for the men from Delhi. With a salary cap of $1.6 million purse left, one can expect the GMR men to go all out for a middle order batsman.

KINGS XI PUNJAB
Clearly the DARK HORSES for this edition. After the first edition they didn’t even qualify for the knockout stages even once. Led by an Inspirational Adam Gilchrist, this team lacks balance. they were banking on the experience of Azhar Mohammod and David Hussey last season and this time too we came expect the same from them. The local players should be used properly. Players like Jiwanjot Singh ,Siddharth Kaul,Uday Kaul, Ravi Inder Singh should be given a chance to prove their worth in this format of the game. As far as their chances are concerned, If their Foreign Recruits fire, they have the chance of making it to the next round. So the onus is on the likes of Gilly, Hussey, Azhar, Marsh to fire them into the last 4. With a salary purse of $7.2 million left with them for IPL auctions 2013, the onus is on the team management to pick the right players to get the balance right.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
They are the defending IPL champions. They are the team with the worst win-loss percentage among all 9 teams. Given the inconsistent form of their skipper Gautam Gambhir their title defense hangs in balance. With Manoj Tiwary, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Yusuf Pathan sidelined for a major part of the season due to injuries they will lack match practice. Having the best T20 Internationals around with them, its almost clear that they will look to strengthen their domestic batting talents. Jammu and Kashmir All-Rounder Parveez Rasool would be a good choice for the SRK’s men. Snapping Tamim Iqbal from the auctions wont be a bad move for them. Jacques Kallis and Sunil Narine will be the key for their title defense.

MUMBAI INDIANS
The most consistent team for the last 3 seasons but yet to win an IPL. They are the former Champions League T20 winners. The only team other than CSK to have a strong domestic contingent. Team has got a new mentor in Anil Kumble and it has been speculated thar Rohit Sharma might be handed over the captaincy. they have released a cluster of foreign players namely Clint McKay, Thissara Perera, Dwayne Smith, Richard Levi, Davy Jacobs which means that they might be going for some fresh International players. They are also looking for a new captain. So George Bailey may be the man they may look for. They need an able opening batsman to partner Sachin Tendulkar at the top. Paul Stirling‘s preformance in the Bangladesh Premier League makes him a strong candidate along with BigBash League’s Player of the Tournament Aaron finch and Tamim Iqbal. With $1.8 million left in their kitty, they might be expected to go for some fringe players.

PUNE WARRIORS INDIA
They came into the frame in the year 2011 and were yet to taste success. Last season they skipped the auctions because of some internal problems with BCCI and they were asked to buy the players who were left unpurchased during the auctions. They acquired Steve Smith from Royal Challengers Bangalore, bought Micheal Clarke, Marlon Samuels in a direct transaction. Now they released players like Michael Clarke, Callum Ferguson, Nathan McCullum, Jesse Ryder, Steve Smith, James Hopes, Tamim Iqbal, Graeme Smith. So it is an indication that they will acquire some foreign players. Their domestic players seems to be too week and its a matter of concern for the owners and team management to get things in place by the auctions. During the next IPL auction, they bought AB De Villiers, Muttiah Muralitharan, Daniel Vettori, TM Dilshan, Dirk Nannes. The injury to Nannes became a blessing in disguise as they replaced him with Chris Gayle. That changed the fortunes of the side as he led from the front to take their team to the finals where they flattered against CSK in the finals. Virat Kohli was made captain in the year 2012 and it seemed to be working. They have a total of $2.7 million purse for the auctions and they might be looking to strength their middle order.

Share Warne’s inspirational captaincy helped them win along with Shane Watson and Yusuf Pathan’s impressive show. From the next season the were not that threatening. They have released Johan Botha, Paul Collingwood, Owais Shah, Dinesh Chandimal. With a stronger domestic contingent we might expect the management to look for some foreign recruits.
